How did you become a NEWS fan?

Hello everyone! I don't know if this has been done here before, but I thought it would be fun if each of us shares our stories with NEWS. How did you first hear of them, how did you become a fan, or what was your first song?

I first got to know NEWS around 2007. I started to become a fan when they were already six. My first song was Hoshi wo Mezashite. :)

I accidentally watched Nobuta wo Produce. I liked Akira the character, so I looked up some information about the actor who was playing him (Yamapi), found out he has a group called NEWS. I decided to check them out and started watching all their videos on youtube (very first one I saw was "Hoshi wo Mezashite" PV) and next thing I know I was hooked. :D Bought my first ever J-pop CDs when they simultaneously released "weeeek" and "Pacific" in November that year.

I was already a fan of Tackey & Tsubasa, Around 2005, my friend told me to watch this group of boys. she just watched them on Shounen Club and they performed their new single "Cherish". She said that the group is cute, they dance with pink gloves and they are the same as age as we are. she told me to go and download "NEWS - Cherish PV" I watched the PV and immediately fell in love. I liked Ryo and Uchi first but after watching a few performances, I fell in love with Shige XD (bt now i'm a Tegoshi fan)

So yeah my first NEWS song was Cherish.

I got into NEWS in October 2008 after i became a fan of Tegoshi after watching them on Domoto Kyoudai NEWS first appearance 2003. First song i liked hoshi wo mezashite. Love them now more than ever.

I ran across a meme that used the song "Weeeek"...found out who sang it, and eventually also found "Sayaendou", which I loved. It didn't get much past that, besides a few other songs, but those two at least kept me familiar with the name, since I'd listen to them on and off over the next few years.

Fast forward to very late 2012 and I met a Chankapaana that had been dabbling in the KAT-TUN fandom, where I met her. She pretty much re-introduced me to NEWS, and I was all for supporting the new 4-nin group after I found out what had happened. They aren't my main bias (they are currently being beaten out by KAT-TUN and Backstreet Boys), but I have been enjoying the new music for the most part, and I support them when I can. My friend even helped me buy tour good this year! So my first concert goods ever are NEWS. I also look forward to the release of the concert DVD.

A friend of mine who went to study in Japan came back and introduced me to Koi no ABO, but let's just say the crazy outfits looked so awkward at first it wasn't love at first sight... Then I got to watch Nobuta wo Produce because said friend wanted to know if I preferred Yamapi or Kame, and that's where I got hooked! I have been a fan of Yamapi till getting to watch the concerts, I guess? Now I wouldn't trade Massu for anyone in the world!!

Let's see... my first NEWS song was Sayaendou. I downloaded the 2006 Oricon Top 100 from jpopsuki in January 2007. I liked it, but it always takes me a looong time to start exploring a fandom, so I didn't pay too much attention.

2008 rolled around, I got the 2007 Oricon Top 100. weeeek comes on and blows me away, I look at my iTunes and find out I have two other songs by these "NewS" people already (Sayaendou and Hadashi no Cinderella Boy), so I look them up. This was back in the day of that huge jpop/jrock act wiki-like website I can't remember the name of now, that died all of a sudden... anyway, I look up the members, find out the history, and get Yamapi-baited into the fandom. Found out he was in dramas, had solo work, etc, and start devouring everything I can find.

I'd never seen anything like NEWS, and then I found out there was a whole COMPANY of these bands, but I never fell for anyone like I did for NEWS. I also thought Yamapi was sooo interesting and adorable, until I discovered Shige. >.>

Never going back! NEWS always and forever~. ♥

First song was Teppen when it was released because a friend pushed me to watch the PV. I kind of liked it but it didn't make me a fan. Then another friend forced me to watch Nobuta and fell for Yamapi. I got myself Never Ending Wonderful Story DVD and instantly forgot Yamapi and Massu became my ichiban for a while because of the way he sings and dances. Then I started to learn Japanese and was interested in reading Shige's jweb because people said it's interesting. Shige became my ichiban ever since.

I'm a late fan, ahahahahahaha! I knew about them from 2010, cause a friend of mine is a big fan, but I wasn't really interested at that time. I knew Yamapi and Ryo because of dramas, but never really seen the other members.
THEN on February this year when I was in Japan I saw Tegomasu on a program on TV and they were just too cute so I started searching about them and found out they are part of NEWS. In less than two weeks I watched all the concert and the shows with them I could find and now I'm totally an hardcore fan! XD

Weeeek was my first song I think. I'm generally ignorant of 'current' music unless someone else sticks it under my nose, since I'm not a fan of the radio, so most of my new music tends to come from other people.

I'm also horrible at telling people apart, so I think slytherisa was very patient with me as she tried to get me to tell all six members apart. XD I fell for Koyama right away though, so it was easy enough to tell him from the others.

I have known them since late 2009 and their first song I knew is Summer Time. but i started to like NEWS this year after they become 4-nin (sorry ryo-pi).
At first I didn't like them because they focused on Ryo-pi too much. I dislike that kind of group. and then last year I started to became Tegomass fans, esp Massu. I like their voice & their songs are nice. I like Massu so much that finally I started to watch 4-nin NEWS related videos. That made me know them more & made me love them. I love the bond with their fans. I love how they express their love to fans.

i can't remember their song that i first listen to but i have kei-chan's love addiction in my playlist since then lol
i even memorised it XD
knew them because first time i saw NeWs in a mag , kei-chan grabbed my attention because he looks like super junior's donghae to me at first (now not anymore. kei-chan is kei-chan)
i start to dig about them and listen to most of their songs back in 2009/2010 . they beat kat-tun somehow >.<

I became a NEWS fan around November of 2005 when NEWS was 7 members. I was initially a Ya-Ya-yah fan so i watched the Ya-Ya-yah Show a lot. Koyama, Shige, Tegoshi, and Massu were pretty much regulars and they are fun and adorable. I got hooked on the songs they'd sing together and was immediately attracted to Shige and all was lost since then.

My friend introduced me to NEWS :)
She was my friend since junior high, we enter the same high school but at that time somehow we end up rarely talking.
Suddenly she told me about NEWS and I can't help but be a fan too >< (well I was denying it at first lol) and since then we talked about NEWS all the time.
I was really glad ^_^

Oh and my first song is Happy Birthday and I fell in love with Massu instantly >_______

In 2009, read a novel about Samurai and Yakuza. Got obsessed with Yakuza, my friend suggested me to watch My Boss My Hero.
Fall in love with cutie-chubby-Tegoshi's smile in the drama *3* That's how Tegoshi became my ultimate bias xD
Searched, downloaded, stalked any stuff about Tegoshi and bam! There're Tegomass and NEWS (^^)v
First NEWS's song was "Ai Nante" since Tegoshi did his solo with that song :D
And oh.. Massu, Shige and Kei chan currently are trying to push down Tegoshi's rank from my heart ._. No good for kokoro

It was through Tegomass for me. They sang the ending theme for Lovely Complex and I was an anime fan at that time. But after searching a little about who sang Kiss~ Kaerimichi no Love Song, I fell in love with Tegomass and forgot all about anime XD I never watched anime after that, didn't have much time, because of Tegomass and NEWS. My first NEWS song was "Sakura Girl". I know I was late, I was too concentrated on Tegomass XD

I've known NEWS around 2009... my friend sent me "Sayaendou" mp3 by e-mail because I asked him to recommend me Japanese songs. He said that Sayaendou is used as theme song of One Piece Movie 7 (I was an otaku before)
but I started to like them since last year, when they comeback as 4 and released BEST album... and I fall in love with Keichan.

I never expected that I'll become NEWS' fan and I thank him for introducing me to NEWS XD

the first Japanese thing I watched for first time was happy birthday PV.. they were adorable enough to make me fall in love with each one of them especially ryopi ^^
starting from NEWS, I got to know about Johnny’s world and other Japanese fandome, singers, actors, dramas,, movies...etc.. till I became a HUGE fan of Japan and its culture which encouraged me to look for Japanese people in my country, who are Veeeeerrrry few in Saudi and difficult to find, to share my love to Japan with them and to study its language.
I'm NEWS fan and will always as one.

2008, I was an active member of the Crunchyroll site, being a fan of both anime and Jdoramas. There's something like a "Top Rated Videos" list there and NEWS' Summer Time PV was the #1 vid for weeks. I already knew Yamapi then from Nobuta and Kurosagi, so I decided to check it out. It was such a cute song so I put it in my iPod. Then I also came across the Taiyou no Namida PV, and thought everyone was really cool. Been a fan since then :)
