Shige will be acting in one of Fuji TV's dramas for the next season. Not much information has been released yet, but he'll be acting alongside Karina and Shiina Kippei. The title is "Kirawareru Yuuki" (The Courage to be Disliked), and it'll be on air from January 2017, at 10pm on Thursdays.

"Shitsuren Chocolatier" (The chocolatier of lost love) is a FujiTV new drama beginning in January 2014 with Matsumoto Jun as main character, also starring Sato Ryuta, Takenaka Naoto and Kato Shigeaki.
The story of the drama comes from the popular namesake manga by Mizushiro Setona, that won the 36th Kodansha Manga Award and the 2nd Anan Manga Award. Koyurugi Sota (Matsumoto Jun) went to France to become a chocolatier hoping to impress his beloved senpai Saeko (Ishihara Satomi), he doesn't succeed though and his love stays unrequited. Sato Ryuta plays the difficult role of Rikudo Seinosuke, the famous owner chef of the chocolate shop "RICDOR", he has a crush on Sota even knowing that he's straight and in love with Saeko. Kato Shigeaki will be Sekiya, a young employee of "RICDOR" who has no luck in romance, at first he may seem blunt but in reality he's just quiet, analytical and careful. Takenaka Naoto will play Sota's father.
Edit: The drama will begin on 13 January from 9pm. Shige will appear from the 2nd episode on 20 January!

"Hana no Zubora-meshi"
From 23 October on TBS and MBS from 00:55am.
The main character Komazawa Hana (30 yrs old) lives alone because her husband is working in another city. She cooks and eats alone, she goes on day after day with her simple hand-made cooking (called Zubora-meshi = Sloppy meals). In every story is introduced one or more Zubora-meshi, the main highlight of the short stories are the delicious food and the satisfied expression of Hana when she eats them. Hana, a kind, simple woman who likes to cook and to eat and who can't stop loving her husband, is portrayed by Kurashina Kana.
Kato will play the role of Osonoi, the head of a research center about sloppiness. In the drama he'll try to explain the reasons of sloppiness studying Hana's life-style. At the end of the episodes there will also be a corner in which is introduced a Zubora-meshi sent by the audience. Kato in the role of Osonoi will cook the recipe.
Kato: "My character doesn't exist in the original manga, I will do my best to be the spice that will make the drama even more interesting. It seems at the end of the show there will be a cooking corner too, I hope the drama will be like a night snack immediately cooked and eaten when you're hungry."
